In addition to the following features, be sure to check out the enhancements found in our free Dictionary Assistant 2 updates version 2.10, version 2.11 and version 2.12 .

Feature Summary

Dictionary Assistant (DA2) generates Business Intelligence from your Clarion Dictionary. Data elements can be queried, reported, exported and analyzed with sophisticated ease. Available elements include Tables, Columns, Indexes and Relationships. Properties of each of these elements are available in DA2’s underlying query and reporting system. The same installation of DA2 Supports Clarion version 4 and above.

Run queries to satisfy quality control questions like: “Are all of my fields named DESC the same size?” or “Did I set all of my indexes to be CASE INSENSITIVE?”. The list of possibilities is endless!

The Dictionary Worksheet may well be the center-piece of Dictionary Assistant. The Worksheet provides a relational view of the entire dictionary. The File View is the anchor for this view driving the three child views (Fields, Keys and Relationships). As a new file is selected the child views will be refreshed to show their relationship to the newly selected file.

DA2's modern interface is designed for maximum usability. Thanks in part to the PowerOffice Toolbar and XP-Theme products, DA2 offers a very appealing front end.

One of the more interesting new features of DA2 is the ability to export your dictionary to Schema Definition Language (XSD) format for interoperability with other environments. XSD format is used by Visual Studio and other environments as a pseudo data dictionary. As illustrated below in MS Visual Studio 2005.

Create deliverable Dictionary Documentation using the Dictionary Print Assistant. The Dictionary Print Assistant is a very concise semi-customizable report that produces a standard dictionary report suitable for project documentation. This report has been designed to fit the entire file (and respective subordinate information) on a single page.

DA is now docked  in the SysTray allowing quick access to one or more dictionary databases.

New in DA2 is the online update feature. We will notify our customers when new updates are posted but you will also be able to check at any time from the main menu.

DA databases may be launched in one of several ways 1) command line paramete 2) use the new Project Selection dialog 3) File Association launch from any Windows explorer environment..

Your clients or IT customers will now be happier than ever with the new level of reporting capabilities in DA2. Producing an unlimited number of sophisticated custom data dictionary reports is now easier than ever.

Save custom reports or built-in reports to a variety of formats including: PDF, XML, HTML and Text. Creating custom exports directly to Microsoft Excel no longer required third party ActiveX components as in DA1.
