Mission

In the mid-Nineties, Steve Stockstill launched a part-time software development consultancy, while keeping his day job as a Software Engineer in Silicon Valley, and subsequently as Software Engineer and Development Manager for Time Matters/LexisNexis. That part-time consulting enterprise grew up to be Data Equity LLC, headquartered in the heart of North Carolina's Research Triangle Park.

Over the years, Steve discovered a growing disconnect between software applications and users: Users often struggled to capture and interpret data in a meaningful way. This discovery inspired Steve to invent fresh, real-world solutions that harmonize the human user experience with the power of modern technology.

Heritage

For nearly two decades, our founder Steve Stockstill has been designing and developing software products specifically for the developer community. In 1996, Steve released his first commercial product, Query Wizard for Clarion, then went on to develop a full suite of products that enabled developers to build intuitive user experiences efficiently, while maximizing the intelligence locked inside their clients' data. These products — Query Wizard, View Wizard, Report Wizard, Spreadsheet Wizard, CrossTab Wizard and Graph Wizard — which Steve ultimately sold to a business partner, are still being used in thousands of software applications around the world.

Paying It Forward

Steve counts, among his many blessings, his early business mentoring by three remarkable visionaries: his father, Jake Stockstill, Roger Hunt, CEO of QuixData, and Robert Butler, cofounder of Time Matters.  These three men taught him priceless lessons about "the business of doing business."  Data Equity is founded on the good old fashioned core values of hard work, quality product, and customer respect.  Steve's passion is providing world class software and business information systems, while building an enterprise that promotes mutually beneficial partnerships and the sharing of ideas and solutions for the common good.
