Application Assistant FAQ PDF Print E-mail

Q: What versions of Clarion does AA work with?
A: Versions 4 and 5, 6.x (and most likely 7) using either the Clarion (legacy) or ABC template chain. If you are using multiple versions of Clarion you do not need to install AA multiple times. Simply register the deqappa.tpl for each version of Clarion.

Q: How can I tell what version DA I am using?
A: There are two ways. 1) From the Help About dialog   2) From within Windows Explorer you can right click select the AA executable (deqdcta.exe) then select the version tab.

Q: When the AA template utility runs I do not have a resulting AA file?
A: Is the AA path in your environments PATH= statement? This is done during the AA install process but it my have been subsequently removed. You may add it back manually by using the Advanced Tab's Environment button of your "My Computer" settings.

Q: Where/how is the AA database saved?
A: Please refer to: AA file naming conventions.

Q: Can I launch the AA database from the command line?
A: Yes, as illustrated below, AA will accept the full database path as the first parameter.

c:\ntsa\ntaa.exe c:\dev\project\myproj._aa

Q: What files are created by Application Assistant?
A: Application Assistant creates two files named after your dictionary <app>.$aa and <app>._aa.

$aa is just a temporary file and may be deleted

_aa is the resulting database created by importing the $aa file. This is the Project file used by Application Assistant.
