Q: What versions of Clarion does DA work with?
A: Versions 4 and 5, 6.x (and most likely 7) using either the Clarion (legacy) or ABC template chain. If you are using multiple versions of Clarion you do not need to install DA multiple times. Simply register the deqdcta.tpl for each version of Clarion.

NOTE: To document a CW2 dictionary create a dummy application in C4, C5 or C6.x using a COPY of your original CW2 DCT.

Q: How can I tell what version of DA I am using?
A: There are two ways. 1) From the Help About dialog   2) From within Windows Explorer you can right click select the DA executable (deqdcta.exe) then select the version tab.

Q: When the DA template utility runs I do not have a resulting DA file?
A: Is the DA path in your environments PATH= statement? This is done during the DA install process but it my have been subsequently removed. You may add it back manually by using the Advanced Tab's Environment button of your "My Computer" settings.

Q: Where/how is the DA database saved?
A: Please refer to: DA file naming conventions.

Q: Can I launch the DA database from the command line?
A: Yes, as illustrated below, DA will accept the full database path as the first parameter.

deqdcta.exe c:\dev\project\myproj._da

Q: What files are created by Dictionary assistant?
A: Dictionary Assistant creates two files named after your dictionary <dct>.$da and <dct>._da.

$da is just a temporary file and may be deleted

_da is the resulting database created by importing the $da file. This is the Project file used by Dictionary Assistant.
